The construction of Royal Caribbean’s second Icon-class cruise ship has officially begun! After the debut of the Icon of the Sea in 2025, the soon-to-be-named ship will set sail.
Royal Caribbean held a steel-cutting ceremony at the Meier Turku shipyard in Finland to celebrate the next ship in the brand’s line! Meier Turku shipyard is the same building as the Icon of the Seas shipyard where Allure and Oasis of the Seas were built.
MEANING OF THE CEREMONY OF STEEL CUTTING

The first piece of steel cut for a new ship shows the beginning of the ship-building process. The ceremony brought together cruise and shipyard executives to celebrate the start of construction. From this moment, design, construction, architecture, and engineering production begin.
More information about the ship will be revealed soon. Click here for more information on the Icon Class and Icon of the Seas.
