The Carnival Luminosa debuts for the 1st time with its fun decorated colors on the high seas

Carnival Luminosa set sail, for the first time, with its new livery and funnel decorated in the official colors of the line.

The ship, formerly part of Costa Crociere’s, now sails in Carnival colors with a striking new design. This new look was unveiled at Mardi Grass 2021 and features the red, white, and blue hues long associated with Carnival Cruise Line.

The ship also features an antique funnel design reminiscent of those on original Carnival ships like Mardi Gras, Carnivale, and Festivale, which have also been painted in the iconic Carnival colors.

Under the watchful eye of Captain Adriano Binacchi, the Carnival Luminosa departed her dry dock in Palermo, Italy, for Dubai, where the ship’s crew will soon be joined and introduced to her new home before heading to her final destination in Australia.

“We anticipated the day when we could see the Carnival Luminosa sail on the open seas with our new hull design and updated funnel, and it is even more special than we imagined,” said Captain Binacchi.

“Now, she’s on her way to what really makes a Carnival cruise vacation special: getting our crew on board! With the uniqueness of Luminosa and our team members who make everyone feel at home, this ship will truly bring a new level of fun that our guests haven’t experienced before,” he added.

This sailing also marks the first time Carnival Luminosa has sailed under its new Bahamian flag. The ship was officially registered last week with the Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA).

Carnival Luminosa will sail from Brisbane to a variety of seasonal itineraries from November 6, 2022, to April 13, 2023, offering something for everyone, before repositioning for seasonal service from Seattle to Alaska next May, including some exotics from Carnival for the first time.
