With the delivery of Carnival Venezia today, Carnival Cruise Line has added its 25th ship to its fleet.
Previously owned by Costa Cruises, Carnival Venezia has been officially transferred to Carnival Cruise Lines. Beginning in June, the cruise ship will sail year-round from New York under the Carnival brand.
“We are pleased to welcome Carnival Venezia to the fleet, which will make its drydock debut as our first ‘Fun Italian Style’ ship this May,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “A big thank you to everyone from our sister lines Costa and to all those in the Carnival family who will be working to add the Carnival touches to this ship over the next two months.“
The cruise ship will depart on a 15-day transatlantic Carnival voyage from Barcelona, Spain on May 29, 2023. The ship will begin year-round cruises from New York’s Manhattan Cruise Terminal on June 15, 2023.
A wide range of cruises is available, with 10 different voyage lengths and 22 unique itineraries that include visits to 25 ports in 14 countries.

The cruise ship is themed after the city of Venice, and the main atrium is modeled after Piazza San Marco.

Carnival Venezia will introduce many new food and beverage offerings to Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet where guests can indulge in the flavors of Italy, including La Strada Grill featuring classic Italian street food, Mexican-Italian fusion restaurant Tomodoro, and an Alchemy-like bar. Amari and Frizzante, serving authentic Italian coffee and biscuits.
The cruise ship will also feature new Italian-inspired entertainment spaces such as the Gondola Lounge, designed with Venice’s famous canals in mind, and the Carnevale Bar & Lounge, which celebrates the elegance of Venetian masquerade balls during Carnevale, as well as new activities such as the Italian a street party where Little Italy meets Lida, the Captain’s Venetian toast and an Italian-inspired program for children and teenagers.
Carnival Venezia will be home to many of the activities and experiences guests enjoy on other Carnival cruises, including Carnival Waterworks, Piano Bar 88, Heroes Tribute Lounge, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, Bonsai Sushi & Teppanyaki, Guy’s Burger Salon, Cloud 9 & Spa, Serenity Adult Retreat and Dr. Seuss Bookville.
Carnival Venezia is the second of three Costa cruise ships to be transferred to Carnival Cruise Line. Carnival Luminosa was the first ship to be transferred and joined the Carnival fleet last November.
Carnival Firenze will begin sailing with Carnival next year and homeport in Long Beach, California.
